Although I am writing this about the current Israel vs. Gaza debacle, I may perhaps be the last person on the planet who has not picked a side, formed the correct immutable opinion about right and wrong. The truth is, I don’t know who is right and who is wrong between these two warring factions. In fact, I think they are both right. And both wrong. Truth is, I kind of think being born on this planet should suffice to give a person the right to breathe the air and occupy the earth wherever they find themselves. It’s especially tragic since these two factions are genetically related.
When the Jewish “terrorists” were forced into exile by Rome for the crime of fighting back against occupation, those who did not fight were allowed to remain. They may even have been Jews at that time, but through the following centuries many converted to either Christianity or Muslim. The land was called Judea but to punish the Jews, Rome changed its name to Palestine.
Over the next 2000 years of exile, the Jewish people lived in many places throughout Asia, the mideast and Europe, and eventually in the west. But somehow were never really at home anywhere, with thoughts of eventually being able to return to their homeland. Many did through the 19th and early 20th century. And then WW2 happened and the holocaust which destroyed half of the Jewish population. This was known throughout the so-called free world which kept silent and did exactly nothing to help save the lives of those victimized by the genocidists. The west really had no problem with killing of the Jewish or Gypsy populations, or the old or the sick.
After the war, the severely emotionally and physically traumatized holocaust survivors were offered to settle in their former homeland, Palestine, formerly Judea. This offer came from the UK and the US, two of the most virulently racist countries, both of whom no doubt most feared the Jews without an offer of Palestine, might instead opt for settlement in the UK or the US. They apparently felt they were entitled to offer this land that was not theirs to offer, and of course it was the fulfillment of a very long dream of return for the Jewish people.
Here is where I admit that although I am ethnically Jewish, I was born in Brooklyn and have never had the opportunity to visit Israel. Having been born in the U.S., my interest is primarily in what passes for politics in this country and not in others. I am not as knowledgeable about Palestinian/Israeli history as I might be. It is my understanding, however, that while the Jewish people have built their state, the Palestinians have repeatedly rejected the idea of a two-state solution, preferring to focus their energy on hatred of the Jewish state and attempts to destroy it and advised to follow this agenda with advice from neighboring Arab countries which otherwise have offered little to no assistance to the Palestinian people.
So now we have Ralph Wilde, a purported expert in public international law passing on his Solomon-like verdict that Israel is illegal. I am humbled by his doctorate as well as his good repute and his backing by the United Nations, the organization that is currently involved in attempting to force a globalist agenda on the entire planet. I have to admit though, for me, he brings to mind another arbiter of right and wrong. Many, many years ago I read a book called The Diary of Bernal de Diaz. He was a priest who accompanied Cortes on his plunder of Mexico. In one sentence, he forever opened my eyes to the arrogance of western culture. His comment was about the indigenous and he said that the native heretics needed to be trained from their pagan habit of daily bathing. But at least he didn’t say it was illegal - just unChristian. But Dr. Wilde says it is illegal for Israel to exist, at least where it is. Perhaps they too, in his opinion are just not Christian enough. I wonder where he would suggest the nine million Israelis (seven million Jews, two million Arabs) emigrate to. Surely not the UK, not after the diligent effort the UK, along with its top student, the rapacious United States government, did to assist the Third Reich in its effort to eliminate the Jewish population altogether.
Dr. Wilde’s compassion for the Palestinians and his verdict that Israel is an illegal occupier would certainly convince me of Israeli criminality. If only, if only, if only, the entire western hemisphere plus Australia, New Zealand, many African nations, Indonesia and the Pacific Islands including Hawaii had not been invaded, their inhabitants ruthlessly slaughtered and, at least in the United States, those 10 to 15% who managed to survive, were placed in internment camps called “reservations”, their language, their culture, their children stolen from them. And this with exactly zero personal ties to the land that western European colonialists, slavers, thieves and murderers appropriated. No doubt millions, perhaps billions of people, animals, land, laid waste to, killed, oppressed, robbed, enslaved. And in this instance, it isn’t 75 years of occupation, it’s over 500 years and still going strong.
I accept that it is possible that Israel is guilty as charged. I am left wondering why Dr. Wilde cares only about the Palestinians. What about Yemen, are they not Arabs as well? They have been under attack since 2015 by Saudi Arabia, no doubt using American weapons. Is this not quite as illegal as Israel’s existence? Or how about Syria where I understand the U.S. has illegally invaded, illegally attempting “regime change”, being more democratic than thou, having given itself the right to decide who shall be the leader of each and every country on the planet. While stealing 80% of Syria’s oil of course. And where are the massive protests against the slaughter of the Uyghur Muslims in China? It is said at least one million have been killed, many more placed in “re-education” camps. Or is China, as Obama said of the criminal banks, “too big” to be illegal.
And of course there’s the question of Liberia. Quite similar to what happened to the Jewish citizens of Judea, Africans were forced out of their own countries, enslaved and oppressed in strange countries. At the end of slavery, having no further use for the Africans, they were encouraged to return to their homeland, but not even their homeland. The United States created a whole new country for the ex-slaves who chose to leave. I would imagine that Liberia would be quite as “illegal” as he deems Israel to be. Even more so, since the ex-slaves were not returned to their country of origin.
Then of course there’s Libya where the Great White Father of us all, Barack Obama, along with his accomplice Hillary Clinton, illegally invaded and ordered the assassination of the “despot” Gadaffi, the one leader who told his people that the oil in Libya belonged to them, where oil cost 14 cents a gallon and the Libyan people received a yearly check based on oil profits; a country which provided universal health care and an excellent free education, a law guaranteeing equal rights for women, which not only still does not exist in the United States, but we now have a bought and paid for puppet of a president who has made it virtually illegal to be an actual woman or to practice the free speech promised by our Constitution. And a promise fulfilled by Gadaffi to the Libyan people, then the poorest in Africa that he would provide them all with decent housing instead of living as though they were domiciled in downtown L.A., or San Francisco or Seattle, in tents with no toilet facilities while we wonder why infectious diseases are on the rise. But Gadaffi was a “despot” and needed to be murdered, while that wicked woman laughed and still can’t figure out why she is so hated. Now Libya is a failed state with open air slave markets. Welcome to demockracy in action, United States Empire style.
But Dr. Wilde apparently did not consider these actions illegal. Not even when the U.S. bombed into oblivion the irrigation pipeline that Gadaffi built to provide water throughout Africa. Not a problem, not illegal, at least not as illegal as Jewish people returning to the land that was theirs until stolen by Empire. And perhaps I would have a less jaundiced view of Dr. Wilde were he not a citizen of the single most predatory nation on the entire planet, even (at least so far) outdoing the viciousness of the U.S. empire.
England, it is said, has invaded something like 90% of the entire globe at one time or another in its long and bloody history. I hear that the English are even the inventors of the dreadful scalping for which North American indigenous were credited, except they as well learned it from their oppressors. The English, however, created it with which to murder and subdue their Irish neighbors and steal their land. Seems like the English started out predating on those unfortunate enough to have to share an island with them. Then they moved on to conquer the planet - at least 90% of it. And wherever they went, they left a wake of misery, exploitation and death.
Oh, and by the way Dr. Wilde, I hear that many of the British former colonies, left bleeding and close to death by dealings with the British Empire are now seeking return of their stolen possessions, now known in Great Britain as the “crown jewels”. Just wonder if you were planning to impose a verdict and a demand for the return of these priceless jewels to the countries from which England stole them, Surely, you must consider theft illegal or do they not cover theft by Empire in international law classes? I wouldn’t even know how to put a price on the stolen resources, let alone the millions, perhaps billions of lives stolen by the British Empire.
I also find a certain irony in Dr. Wilde speaking from The Hague, that bastion of rectitude on our planet. Also in the country second only to the U.S. in providing oil to the nazis, even after the beginning of hostilities, even after the beginning of the Rockefeller-inspired genocide of “unwanted populations”. Just a little aside about that: despite Hitler making clear (in spite of his Austrian origin) that the only “superior” people were the German people, he was still supported by many Arab countries. I assume they lacked sufficient imagination to surmise where the Third Reich would then head, had they in fact won WW2.
And by the way, the oil provided by the Netherlands to the Third Reich? Nobody really believed that Holland was the next thing to Texas did they? The oil was purloined from their “colony”, the Dutch East Indies, now known as Indonesia. Or is that no longer illegal since that was a bit more than 75 years ago. I grew up in an area of the U.S. that was originally called by the colonists New Amsterdam. I remember from my childhood an old Dutch church not far from where I lived. Good thing it’s probably disintegrated by now since it was clearly illegal. Or is it only a question of legality when Jewish people are involved? We have less right to occupy the U.S. than the Jews have to occupy Israel. At least that’s where they came from. If I were to protest and claim a country had no right to exist, even though it does exist, I would not want to be a hypocrite; I’d want to return the land I am occupying to its original inhabitants. Oops! We killed most and psychologically damaged the few remaining so I guess we’re good.
While I don’t believe that disapproving the Israeli government makes a person an anti-semite, and I also don’t approve of the Israeli government myself and consider its leader to be a criminal. But then, I consider almost all so-called leaders to be criminals. (Has there ever been a study about the quality of the humans who seek to be leaders?) However, when you’re foaming at the mouth furious at just one country, and showing compassion to one single country as its enemy, while injustice after injustice piles up about which the only reaction is wondering if your favorite sports team (or political party - they’re pretty much the same) will win, while you rage against Israel and have zero feelings about the exploitation of the Congo, about what was done by the U.S. to Libya, to Afghanistan, to Iraq, about turning Iran from friend to enemy, about our destruction of the Ukrainian people in order to remove Russia as an impediment to world control, if you’re not even out protesting the theft of U.S. tax money by our Congressional puppets, for the benefit of the Ukrainian fascist leadership (and Israel as well) then you qualify as an anti-semite.
So my final question is, were Dr. Wilde to succeed in destroying Israel since it is a well-known fact that all humans stay in exactly the place of their birth and never, ever establish new countries, where would he like the nine million Israelis to live? How many would he be taking in?
